A few times in my life I’ve had moments of absolute clarity, when for a few brief seconds the silence drowns out the noise and I can feel rather than think, and things seem so sharp and the world seems so fresh. I can never make these moments last. I cling to them, but like everything, they fade. I have lived my life on these moments. They pull me back to the present, and I realize that everything is exactly the way it was meant to be.

Human beings are very quirky and individualistic, and wonderfully idiosyncratic, and while I love that about human beings, it makes it hard to figure out what they like.

I find that the things of value to me have become quite clear - that the times of closeness with real friends is becoming the most valuable thing of all. Travel for me almost has no value anymore…I’ve created an image of a world traveler and adventurer, and the fact is I fucking want to sit down and grow roses with Suzie Q - I’m gonna do it.

We go out on weekends to try and have sex while trying not to get punched in the face. We drink so we can be ourselves and not mind it so much. We’re desperate to be understood. We want to know someone else has felt it too.

Spring is early this year.
Laurel, plums, peaches,
Almonds, mimosa,
All bloom at once. Under the
Moon, night smells like your body.

In New York they say you’re always looking for a job, a boyfriend, or an apartment. So let’s say you have two out of three, and they’re fabulous. Why do we let the one thing we don’t have effect how we feel about all the things we do have?

Carrie Bradshaw (oh yes, it’s that kind of night.)

I spend hour after hour while I draw observing my creatures and thinking about the mad things they’re up to; basically it’s my way of writing fiction.

Liz: I’m going to tell Drew that I’m having a little “Welcome to the building” party for him. But there is no party! And then, when he shows up, I’ll laugh and say, “Oh, it’s the wrong night.” And then he’ll laugh and say, “Oh, one glass couldn’t hurt.” And then I will put my mouth on his mouth!
